Outcome of “Forum on Promoting Business Engagement and Matching through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) to Expand India’s Carbon Market” and “Business Consultation Meeting on the JCM Process in Hyderabad” Held in India

1.  The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) of Japan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) of India, hosted a business forum and business matching event titled:
“Forum on Promoting Business Engagement and Matching through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) to Expand India’s Carbon Market” in New Delhi, India on September 23, 2025, and
“Business Consultation Meeting on the JCM Process in Hyderabad”in Hyderabad, India on September 26, 2025
 
2.  The forum introduced the JCM as a mechanism that contributes to achieving the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of both countries and expanding business opportunities. It highlighted the role of JCM in creating new business opportunities, and also emphasized that the official launch of information submissions for decarbonization projects using the Project Information Sheet (PIS) has been announced.
 
3.  During the business pitch session, more than 10 Japanese and Indian companies presented diverse project concepts, such as compressed biogas, green hydrogen, CCUS, and waste-to-energy, showcasing JCM opportunities and sharing challenges and expectations for advanced technology deployment. In the subsequent business matching session, over 15 companies and government representatives from both countries held individual discussions with stakeholders from Japan, India, and the Asia-Pacific region to explore potential JCM project development.
 
4.  MOE Japan will continue to promote the expansion and acceleration of JCM utilization, contributing to India’s decarbonization efforts.
