The Government of Japan held a side event on December 7 at the 11th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 11) in Montreal, Canada. More than 140 participants including delegates of the contracting parties, representatives of international organizations and NGOs packed the event site. Ms. Koike, Minister of the Environment of Japan, made an opening statement in which she highlighted Japan’s efforts towards the achievement of the target under the Kyoto Protocol, namely national awareness raising campaign such as “WARM BIZ” and the “Team Minus 6%” in addition to Japan’s state-of-the-art technologies including hybrid vehicles and fuel cells.
