The National Biodiversity Strategy

The National Biodiversity Strategy provides the target and the direction for the measures of the government on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity in accordance with the Convention on Biological Diversity in order for the current and future generations are able to receive nature's blessings from biodiversity. The National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan had decided in October 1995, and Japanese government reviewed on former strategy and decided the Second National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan in 2002. The Second National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan was to be reviewed within an approximate five-year period after its decision. Accordingly, the government reviewed the Second National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan considering the changes of both domestic and international circumstances and decided the Third National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan in November 2007.Each of the ministries checks the implementation of the Strategy to report the result to the Central Environmental Council every year.
