Status of Photochemical Oxidant Warnings and Reported Damages in 2007

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) announced the status of the photochemical oxidant warning* issued, and reported all damages for 2007. Photochemical oxidant warnings were issued in 28 prefectures in 2007, with 220 running days (total days on which the warnings were issued by a prefecture). The number of Photochemical oxidant reported damages was 1,910 people in 14 prefectures.

*Paragraph 1, Article 23 of the Air Pollution Control Law stipulates that when a one-hour value of the concentration of photochemical oxidants is more than 0.12ppm and the status is considered to continue due to weather conditions, the warning should be issued to prevent damages to humans.
