The Minister of the Environment's opinions on the Environmental Impact Statement for the Honjo Road.

On August 29, 2008, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) submitted the minister's opinions on the environmental impact statement for the Honjo Road to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.

The project in question is a plan to construct a national road of 13.1 km in length with 4 lanes in Saitama and Gunma Prefectures. The MOE pointed out the following:

1. Survey the noise conditions after opening the road, request cooperation in taking appropriate measures from the road administrator of Route 462, and consider taking additional measures as needed.
2. Survey the noise conditions at the elementary school near the road, consider measures for reduction of noise and take appropriate measures as needed.
3. Consider additional measures for machine noise during construction such as adopting a low noise method and take appropriate measures as needed.
