Action Plan for the Diffusion and Promotion of Eco Drive

Eco Drive is a concept of driving that helps reduce automobiles' impact on the environment. The Action Plan for the Diffusion and Promotion of Eco Drive was compiled jointly by the concerned government ministries (the National Police Agency, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of the Environment) at an inter-governmental meeting held on June 8, 2006.

Based on this action plan, these government ministries and other concerned organizations will collaborate more closely to disseminate and promote Eco Drive steadily, and will follow up on the progress of the related projects carried out in the plan's three-year intensive implementation period from FY 2006 to FY2008.

The main measures prescribed in the action plan are as follows:
- Review the definition of Eco Drive and establish the performance indicators
- Implement activities for diffusion and education of Eco Drive
- Promote the diffusion of supportive equipment for Eco Drive
- Establish an evaluation system of Eco Drive
- Facilitate inter-organ activities across local governments and other concerned organizations
- Conduct surveys necessary for the diffusion and promotion of Eco Drive
