Central Environment Council Reports on the Preferred Effluent Control Measures for the Preservation of Aquatic Life

The Water Environment Committee (chaired by Dr. Ryuichi Sudo, a guest professor of the Tohoku Institute of Technology) of the Central Environment Council finalized today their report on the preferred effluent control measures for the preservation of aquatic life, as requested by the Minister of the Environment on August 27, 2004.

The report sets recommended effluent control measures including a new national uniform effluent standard for zinc.

The Central Environment Council then submitted the report to the Minister of the Environment.

The Ministry of the Environment will take the necessary measures based on this report.
