Open Symposium "Developing Visions for a Low-Carbon Society through Sustainable Development" to Be Held on June 13 in Tokyo

An open symposium "Developing Visions for a Low-Carbon Society through Sustainable Development" will be held at Mita Kaigisho in Tokyo, on June 13, as part of a UK-Japan joint research project that investigates ways of moving towards a Low-Carbon Society by 2050. The launch of the project was announced on February 16, 2006, which also marked the first anniversary of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Low-Carbon Society joint research project is a scientific study promoted by Japan's Ministry of the Environment and the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The project will review country level studies on greenhouse gas emissions, share images and investigate pathways leading to achievement of a low carbon society through technological solutions, innovations and behavioral changes.

The symposium is held to introduce the worldwide research that has been done in pursuit of a Low-Carbon Society to the public. More details are available from the website shown below.
