Air Pollution Status for FY 2006
The state of air pollution is constantly monitored throughout Japan with more than 2,000 monitoring stations. Monitoring is conducted by prefectures and ordinance-designated municipal governments based on the Air Pollution Control Law. As of March 31, 2007, there were 1,581 Ambient Air Pollution Monitoring Stations (AAPMSs): which include 9 national stations and 451 Roadside Air Pollution Monitoring Stations (RAPMSs), which include 10 national stations.
