Quarantine Inspection Started for 13 Japanese Crested Ibises to be Transferred to China

The Ministry of the Environment is coordinating a schedule with the Chinese authorities regarding the transfers of two Japanese crested ibises that China will give to Japan and of 13 Japanese crested ibises born in Japan to China. These transfers are to be carried out in the latter half of October, 2007. The quarantine inspection of 13 Japanese crested ibises that are planned to be transferred to China starts today on September 28th in the Sado Japanese Crested Ibis Conservation Center. It is conducted based on a memorandum that the then Minister of the Environment Wakabayashi and Minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ), Li Chang Jiang, discussed and signed on April 10, 2007 on quarantine inspections and hygienic conditions of Japanese crested ibis that Japan and China export mutually. The schedule of their transfers will be announced when settled.
