ECO ASIA 2007: Asian Efforts to Address Global Environmental Issues

The Ministry of the Environment held the 15th Environment Congress for Asia and the Pacific (ECO ASIA 2007) on September 8 in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, with representatives from 17 countries and 11 international organizations, including 5 environmental ministers.

The congress was chaired by Environment Minister Kamoshita, and participants discussed the main theme of "Asian Efforts to Address Global Environmental Issues." The discussion focused on international and regional cooperation for waste management/recycling and climate change measures at the national and local level in Asia and the Pacific. The points of the discussion were worked up into the Chair's Summary.
