Results of Questionnaire Survey on the Disposal of Home Medical Care Waste

The Ministry of the Environment has compiled the results of a questionnaire survey answered by municipal authorities on the issues of home medical care waste management in accordance with the notice titled "Environmentally Sound Management of Home Medical Care Waste Arising from Medical Care Services at Home" issued in September, 2005.

The survey shows that home medical care waste has been collected by municipal authorities and/or medical institutes. Of all the municipal authorities, 31% of them answered that they appropriately collect the home medical care waste according to the 2005 notice, which shows that there is still room for further improvement to be made by municipal authorities.

The Ministry of the Environment is planning further studies on the issues raised by this survey in order to promote environmentally sound management of home medical care waste.
