Numbers of Bears Captured and Cases of Injury to Humans (as of the end of January, 2007)

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has announced the compilation of the numbers of bears captured and cases of injury to humans in Japan as of the end of January 2007, as based on reports submitted by local governments.
The MOE has collected the reports to obtain data on the state of bears' habitats, in response to the frequent appearance of bears in residential areas.
Note: "Bears" referred to in the text include the Asiatic Black Bear and Brown Bear
