Partial Revision to the Basic Policy for the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services

The Basic Policy for the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services is based on Clause 1, Article 6 of the Law concerning the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities (Law on Promoting Green Purchasing). Designated procurement items and their evaluation criteria provided in the Basic Policy are revised from time to time in order to further shift the demand to items contributing to environmental load reduction.
On February 2, 2007, a partial revision to the Basic Policy will be approved in a Cabinet Meeting. In this revision, 10 items are added to the list of designated procurement items and 46 evaluation criteria are revised, including the strengthening of criteria regarding the management of office buildings for the purpose of energy management and eco-driving, plus the addition of transportation-related criteria.
