Environmental Regeneration and Material Cycles Bureau, Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of the Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand, sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Waste Management

1. The Environmental Regeneration and Material Cycles Bureau, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) of Japan signed, in 2016, the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Waste Management with the Department of Industrial Works, the Ministry of the Industry of Thailand. The main content of the Memorandum is to support the development of an industrial waste management plan and guidelines for industrial waste recycling.

2. Japan and Thailand renewed the Memorandum to promote bilateral cooperation in a wider range of waste management areas.

3. Going forward, Japan and Thailand will enhance bilateral cooperation related to the fields of waste management and recycling, based on the renewed Memorandum of Cooperation.

Official name of the Memorandum of Cooperation:

Memorandum of Cooperation between Environmental Regeneration and Material Cycles Bureau, Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of the Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Field of Waste Management

Purpose:

The purpose of the memorandum is intended to promote and consolidate cooperation between both sides with a view to obtaining mutual benefits in the field of waste management.

Areas of cooperation:

The field of waste management policy and other fields of interest to Japan and Thailand.

Forms of cooperation:

(a) Hold regular policy dialogues

(b) Exchange information and experiences on policy development and implementation

(c) Organize workshops, seminars, and meetings

Effective period:

Five years from April 20, 2022
