Status of Illegal Dumping of Industrial Waste in FY 2005

The Ministry of the Environment carried out its annual national surveys on industrial wastes and announced the findings as follows: 1) In FY 2005, 558 cases of illegal dumping, of which volume totals to 172,179 tons, was uncovered. 2) At the end of FY 2005 (March 31, 2006), the total number of illegal dumping cases including the remaining cases from previous years was 2,670, of which volume was 15.673 million tons (note: illegal dumping cases include inappropriate disposal cases as well).
