Cabinet Decision on a Bill Partially Amending the Fluorocarbons Recovery and Destruction Law

The cabinet is expected to decide on a bill partially amending the Fluorocarbons Recovery and Destruction Law on March 7, 2006. The bill is intended to strengthen measures for the proper recovery of fluorocarbons contained in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Fluorocarbons are known to be a cause of ozone depletion and global warming. The bill introduces a system to control the process of fluorocarbon recovery prior to disposal of equipment and designates the responsibility of operators to recover fluorocarbons during servicing and maintenance of equipment.
