Status of Fluorocarbons Recovery from Commercial Freezer/Air Conditioner in FY 2005

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) announced the status of the recovery of fluorocarbons from class-1 specified equipment (i.e., commercial freezers such as food showcases, large scale freezers/refrigerators and refrigerated storages, and commercial air conditioners) in FY 2005.

Class-1 fluorocarbons recovery operators annually report to the prefectural governors the amount of fluorocarbons recovered from class-1 specified equipment in the previous year in compliance with the Fluorocarbons Recovery and Destruction Law. The aggregate value determined using reports about FY 2005 was approximately 2,298 tons (an increase of 9.3% in terms of weight, though the number of units collected saw a 4.9 % decrease, compared to FY 2004).
