Symposium on Re-introduction of the Japanese Crested Ibis to the Wild

The Ministry of the Environment of Japan, in conjunction with the government of Niigaga Prefecture, will organize a symposium on "Re-introduction of the Japanese Crested Ibis to the Wild -- Letting them Fly into the Beautiful Sky over Japan" at the Tokyo International Forum (address: 3-5-1, Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on Sunday, December 17, 2006. (Application will be needed in advance, Language: Japanese only)

Dr. Satoshi Yamagishi, Director General of the Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, and Dr. Kumoyama Aso, Professor of the Institute for Environmental Culture and specialist for conservation activities of the Crested Ibis in China, will deliver the keynote speeches. Their speeches will be followed by a panel discussion titled "Expectations and Challenges for the Re-introduction of the Japanese Crested Ibis to the Wild," with the participation of 6 panelists involved in this activity in various fields.
