The 5th ASEAN Plus Three Environment Ministers Meeting Held

The 5th ASEAN Plus Three Environment Ministers Meeting was held in Cebu, on November 11, 2006.
The meeting, which has been held annually since 2002, is a forum in which environmental ministers of ten countries in the ASEAN region, as well as Japan, China, Korea and the ASEAN secretariat, discuss potential areas of environmental collaboration.

In the meeting, the secretariat provided an explanation on the project ideas to be conducted by ASEAN Plus Three, such as holding an environmental education forum and climate change dialogue.

The following areas of cooperation have been identified as priority interests for each of the participating countries; environmental education; dissemination and promotion of environmentally sound technologies (EST) and cleaner production (CP); climate change issues; biodiversity management; and integrated water resources management.
