Status of Fluorocarbon Recovery from Commercial Freezers/Air Conditioners in FY 2012

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) released the state of the recovery of fluorocarbons from class-1 specified equipment (i.e., commercial freezers such as food showcases, large scale freezers/refrigerators and refrigerated storages, and commercial air conditioners) in FY 2012.

In compliance with the Law Concerning the Recovery and Destruction of Fluorocarbons, class-1 fluorocarbons recovery operators reported to prefectural governors, the amount of fluorocarbons recovered from class-1 specified equipment in FY 2012.

The total number of class-1 specified equipment collected for disposal and servicing in FY2012 were approximately 1 million and three hundred thousand units and the total amount of fluorocarbons recovered were approximately 4,543 tons.
