The sixth session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF6) was held between February 13 and 24, 2006 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Representatives of over 100 nations, and forest-related convention secretariats, international institutes, and NGOs attended. From Japan, officials of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Forestry Agency participated.
The meeting included discussions concerning future international arrangements on forests which had not been agreed upon at UNFF5 in May 2005. Finally, nations agreed on applying non-legally binding instruments until 2015.
