The National Implementation Plan of Japan under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (modified August 2012)

Recognizing the addition of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs) designated under the Stockholm Convention, the revision of the 2005 national implementation plan started in 2011 with the cooperation of relevant ministries, and the revised national implementation plan was drafted and published in June 2012 by the Inter-Ministerial Meeting for a 30-day public commenting period. After further revisions, the national implementation plan was adopted at the Inter-Ministerial meeting of 7 August 2012.
The government is to submit the revised national implementation plan, along with the review of the former national implementation plan submitted in 2005, to the Conference of Parties on 24 August 2012.
Under the revised national implementation plan, the government continues with relevant measures such as reduction of emissions, appropriate disposal, environmental monitoring and international cooperative activities for POPs, in close cooperation with the concerned Ministries and/or Agencies.
