Announcement of the Open Seminar on Japan's Proposal on Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism

The government of Japan is proposing the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (hereinafter referred to as BOCM) as a new mechanism which complements the current mechanisms such as the clean development mechanism (CDM) in order to contribute to global greenhouse gas emission reduction and removal. The mechanism aims to further facilitate diffusion of low carbon technologies globally, through introduction of leading low carbon technologies and products in developing countries and proper evaluation of emissions reduction resulting from those technologies and products.
An open seminar will be held on Friday, 24 August, with the aim of introducing current efforts regarding the BOCM and enhancing better understanding about the BOCM.
