Transportation of Crested Ibis (TOKI) to Nagaoka City

Based on Programmes for Rehabilitation of Natural Habitats and Maintenance of Viable Populations, Ishikawa prefecture, Izumo city and Nagaoka city were decided to be the dispersed breeding bases of TOKIs in January 2008. So far, 2 pairs were transported to Ishikawa prefecture in January 2010 and to Izumo city in January 2011, respectively.
Four TOKIs of the Sado Crested Ibis Conservation Center will be transported to the breeding center in Nagaoka city on October 11 in 2011. Future born TOKIs in this center will be transported to Sado Japanese Crested Ibis Conservation Center as the candidates to be returned to the wild.
