9th Workshop on Environmental Monitoring of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in East Asian Countries to be held on January 30-February 2 in Thailand

The MOE of Japan will be convening the above-mentioned Workshop on January 30 to February 2, 2012, in Bangkok, Thailand in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Government of the Kingdom of Thailand. Officials and/or experts from 11 countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam and Japan) in the East Asia and experts from UNEP and AMAP are expected to participate in the Workshop.
The Workshop has been held annually to build up a framework of monitoring system in East Asian Countries and to continuously collect the POPs monitoring data to contribute to the Effectiveness Evaluation of Stockholm Convention on POPs.
The discussion in this Workshop will cover, but not be limited to: (1) review of the monitoring results in FY 2010 from the POPs Monitoring Project in East Asian Countries; (2) future direction of this project after FY 2012; and (3) the plan of the next Workshop.
