Month for Promoting Ozone Layer Protection Action

The Japanese Government designated September as the month for promoting ozone layer protection action in recognition of the adoption of the "Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer" on September 16, 1987. In this month, national and local governments make intensive efforts toward increasing public awareness of ozone layer protection and fluorocarbon countermeasures.

The Ministry of the Environment takes every opportunity, including posters and leaflets, to raise awareness of ozone layer problems and Japan's activities for its protection. The MOE website also offers information and materials aimed at raising public awareness.
