"International Youth Conference on Biodiversity in Aichi 2010" to be held

The MOE will hold the "International Youth Conference on Biodiversity in Aichi 2010" as one of the related conferences towards the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Aichi-Nagoya this year, in order to promote communication among youths from all over the world and raise their awareness of biodiversity.

100 youths, from high school to graduate school students, coming from 66 countries in the world including Japan, are expected to attend the meeting. They will develop a youth statement for COP10, through presentations, discussions, workshops, excursions and so forth.

On the last day of the conference, the "International Youth Biodiversity Forum (provisional title)," in which those youths will present the outcomes of the conference, is scheduled to be held. This forum will be open to the public and advance application is required for participation in this forum as an audience member.
