Brief Report of the 8th Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Asia (WGIA8)

The MOE of Japan and the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) together with the Water Resources and Environment Administration (WREA) of Lao P.D.R. convened on July 13-16 in Vientiane, Lao P.D.R., the 8th Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Asia (WGIA8). The workshop was attended by 95 participants in total, including government and research representatives of 13 countries (Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao, P.D.R., Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam). In addition, representatives of 3 international organizations, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, the Technical Support Unit of the IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC TFI TSU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), representatives of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and members of the Regional Capacity Building Project for Sustainable National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Management Systems in Southeast Asia (SEA GHG Project).
