The Air Pollution Prediction System on the Environmental GIS Website Forecasting the concentration of photochemical oxidants etc. in the whole Japan

The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) has built The Air Pollution Prediction System by combining meteorology and chemical transportation models, and has been providing Air Pollution Concentration Maps of East Asian area, the whole Japan and each area of Kyushu, Kansai, Chubu and Kanto to show the atmospheric concentration of photochemical oxidants and nitrogen dioxide on their Environmental GIS website.
Since FY2008, based on The Air Pollution Prediction System, the MOE has developed forecasting systems of each area with technical supports of NIES.
At this time, it has become possible to provide detailed Air pollution Concentration Maps of each area of the whole country experimentally, as forecasting systems of Chugoku, Shikoku and Tohoku areas have been developed additionally.
New Air Pollution Concentration Maps will be available from April 28th, 2010, at 9:00 AM.
