Status of the Photochemical Oxidant Warnings and Reported Damages in 2009

The MOE announced the status of the photochemical oxidant warnings issued and reported all damages for 2009. Photochemical oxidant warnings were issued in 28 prefectures in 2009, with 123 running days (total days on which the warnings were issued by a prefecture). The number of photochemical oxidant reported damages was 910 people in 12 prefectures.

Paragraph 1, Article 23 of the Air Pollution Control Law stipulates that when a one-hour value of the concentration of photochemical oxidants is more than 0.12ppm and the status is considered to continue due to weather condition, warning should be issued to prevent damages to human.
