Public comments invited regarding approval of Regulations of Type 1 Use of Living Modified Organisms

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) received two applications for approval of the conditions (the organism's name, the contents of the use, etc.) concerning the use of living modified organisms as submitted in accordance with the Law Concerning the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity through Regulations on the Use of Living Modified Organisms (Law No. 97 of 2003).
The MOE intends to approve these applications, recognizing that the use of the organisms would have no adverse effects that could pose an unacceptable risk of impairment to the preservation of species or populations of wild fauna or flora, and that no other adverse effects on biological diversity could arise. This judgment was made taking expert consultation into account.

The MOE invites comments from the public regarding the approval of the applications. Comments will be accepted from July 10, 2009 to August 10, 2009. All procedures related to this invitation for public comments will be conducted in Japanese. Comments need to be submitted in Japanese.
