Implementation of the Green Wave

May 22 is the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) proclaimed by the United Nations.
The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) calls for the public to participate in the "Green Wave," a tree-planting campaign for children and youth around the world, at 10:00AM local time on the IDB.
The Ministry of the Environment, together with the SCBD, will call for participation in the "Green Wave 2009" from today through June 14.


The Green Wave will be held at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden on May 22. Dr. Djoghlaf, the Executive Secretary of the Convention, will join the tree-planting activities with the students from Hanazono Elementary School.
