Risk Assessment of Combined Exposure to Multiple Chemicals

Guidance on Risk Assessment of Combined Exposure to Multiple Chemicals in the Environment (April 2026) [in Japanese] [PDF 1.2MB]

This guidance aims to propose viewpoints and approaches for rationally and effectively assessing risks associated with combined exposure to multiple chemicals in the environment under the existing regulatory risk assessment practices. Extensive advice was received for preparation of this guidance from the expert committee organized in the Ministry’s research project on this issue. Referring to the progress in this field, this guidance should be revised as appropriate.

Case studies on combined exposure to multiple chemicals in the environment

Attempts on risk assessment of combined exposure to multiple chemicals in the environment are being compiled as case studies to support the Guidance. They have been conducted to show examples of such risk assessment, and detailed investigations such as reliability evaluation of hazard information have not fully been conducted on equivalent levels with the existing regulatory risk assessment practices.
