Inhabitation of a Tsushima Leopard Cat in Shimojima of Tsushima Confirmed

A Tsushima leopard cat inhabiting the Tsushima Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture was found in Shimojima after an interval of 23 years since the last sighting in May, 1984. In the investigation of its inhabitation that the Ministry of the Environment assigned to Nagasaki Prefecture, one Tsushima leopard cat appeared in a photograph taken with an automatic camera on March 2. This announcement was made after confirmation by an expert. Future investigations into the status of the inhabitation of Tsushima leopard cats in Shimojima will be conducted. Future protection measures will also be examined and enforced.
