Quarantine Inspections and Hygienic Condition of Japanese Crested Ibis Mutually Exported by Japan and China

April 10, 2007

On April 10, 2007, Minister of the Environment Wakabayashi and Minister of AQSIQ Li Chang Jiang discussed and signed a memorandum about quarantine inspections and hygienic conditions of Japanese crested ibis that Japan and China will export mutually. As a result, the import and export of Japanese crested ibises, which ceased after 2004 due to fears of avian influenza, will soon resume. Once the exchange of the Japanese crested ibis between China and Japan is resumed, it is expected that the number of Japanese crested ibis will increase.
