Results of a Questionnaire Survey on Green Purchasing in Local Governments

The Ministry of the Environment conducted a survey of local governments throughout Japan on their state of green purchasing (placing priority in purchasing products with low environmental load) and problems arising from green purchasing, between October 2006 and January 2007. The results are provided on our website.
We found from this survey that green purchasing has become widespread in local governments as a whole, while its progress in towns and villages are still at slow pace. Measures should be made to further promote the spread of green purchasing in smaller municipalities.
