Results of 2nd Viet Nam-Japan Environmental Week

The Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), is organizing the "2nd Viet Nam-Japan Environmental Week" from November 24th to December 27th, 2021, in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam (MONRE).

The Minister for the Environment of Japan, YAMAGUCHI Tsuyoshi, and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam, Mr. Tran Hong Ha, held the 7th Viet Nam-Japan Environmental Policy Dialogue on November 24, and the two ministers agreed and signed the "Joint Cooperation Plan on Climate Change toward Carbon Neutrality by 2050 between the Minister of the Environment of Japan and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam."

On December 16th, the Opening Ceremony and the Project Launch Ceremony for the waste to energy project were held, attended by State Minister for the Environment of Japan, OOKA Toshitaka, and Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam, Mr. Vo Tuan Nhan. In addition, various online seminars were held from December 15th to December 17th to promote the further development of Japanese companies in Viet Nam, with the participation of public and private stakeholders from both countries, which deepened the discussion about each role and cooperation to solve issues. Along with these, business matching and company exhibitions are being held from December 15th to 27th.

As events between the two governments, the 4th Joint Committee on Waste Management and 3Rs was held on December 14, and the 1st Working Group based on the 2050 Carbon Neutral Joint Cooperation Plan was held on December 17th. Discussions between MOEJ and MONRE on each policy issue were conducted through these events.
