"4th JCM Partner Countries' High-level Meeting" was held in COP22

Ministers and Representatives from 16 JCM partner countries and Japan have participated the "4th JCM Partner Countries' High-level Meeting" held in 16 November, 2016 at Japan Pavilion in COP22 (Marrakech) as a side event. The Ministers and Representatives welcomed the progress in the JCM including the issuance of JCM credits, and shared their continuous will to further implement the JCM through mutual cooperation.

Remarks by Mr. Yamamoto, Minister of the Environment, Japan

It is my great pleasure to welcome all Ministers and representatives of the JCM partner countries today. Japan believes that dissemination of advanced low carbon technologies is imperative for decarbonisation of global economy. As the most important approaches to facilitate such technology disseminations, Japan implements JCM. There are ongoing 101 pipeline projects of which 15 projects have already been registered. In May and October this year, JCM credits were issued in Indonesia and Mongolia. Japan will further support the formation and implementation of projects together in cooperative manner. It is "important" to discuss for reducing greenhouse gases. Furthermore, it is "very important" to realize global emission reductions by taking concrete actions. We can contribute further to facilitate international discussions as a pioneer through the implementation of the JCM.
