Results of 16th meeting of Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-16) and 4th meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation of the Convention (WGRI-4)

In consideration of each agenda to be discussed at the forthcoming 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP11) which will be held in October 2012 in Hyderabad, India, SBSTTA-16 was held from 30 April through 5 May 2012, followed by WGRI-4 held from 7 through 11 May 2012, in Montreal, Canada.

Both meetings discussed a wide range of issues including progress in implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the achievement of the Aichi Targets, resource mobilization, collaboration with the intergovernmental science-policy platform on biodiversity and ecosystem services (IPBES), biodiversity and climate change, and marine and coastal biodiversity, resulting in the adoption of total 23 recommendations, which are to be put forward to COP11.
