Outcome document of the second scientific workshop on Intergovernmental Science-policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES)Assessment was submitted

The MOE of Japan held the Second Scientific Workshop on IPBES, in collaboration with the United Nations University and the Government of the Republic of South Africa on 27-29 February 2012 in Tokyo.
In the workshop, 34 national and international experts discussed a number of issues including the assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services, which is one of the main activities of the IPBES, and developed a draft of recommendations.
The MOE hereby announces its submission of the outcome document of this workshop to the United Nations Environmental Programme as an information document for the discussions at the Second Session of the Plenary Meeting on IPBES that is scheduled to be held on 16-21 April 2012 in Panama City, Panama.
