First meeting of the "Japan Committee for UNDB" to be held
The 10-year period between 2011 and 2020 is the "United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (UNDB)" as proclaimed by the United Nations. It is declared for the purpose to promote efforts for conservation of biodiversity and so on with the entire UN system, in order to contribute to the achievement of the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
In accordance with the proclamation of UNDB by the UN, the government of Japan will form the Japan Committee for UNDB, with its first meeting to take place on September 1, 2011.
