Result of the 5th Meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Study Group for Cooperation Activities on Environmental Management

The MOE of Japan held the above-mentioned closed-door meeting with the Institute of Science for Environmental Management, the Vietnam Environment Administration (ISEM-VEA), and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the 9th of March, 2011, in Tokyo.

They reported and discussed as below:
1. The results of the Joint Policy Research in FY 2010.
- Vietnamese side reported and suggested the improvement plan for overlaps and inconsistencies of legal and administrative system, and issues on wastewater fee system.
- Japanese side reported the results of field study in Thai Nguyen Province and suggested measures which could make the ETV system function effective in order to disseminate environmental management technologies.
2. The themes and contents of cooperation in the next fiscal year
- Construct "policy package" for dissemination of environmental management technologies into entities including formulation of a guideline of ETV system and provide capacity building assistance for its operation in Thai Nguyen Province as a model area
- Examine measures for concretization of improvement of legal and administrative system
