The 45th Session of the International Tropical Timber Council held in Yokohama

The 45th session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) and the associated sessions of the 4 committees were held in Yokohama, Japan, last November 9 to 14, 2009. Representatives of respective parties, International Environmental Organizations and other organizations such as environmental NGOs participated in the session. Representing Japan were the officials from the MOE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Forestry Agency. In the said session, the Council discussed some topics regarding timber trade and sustainable management of rainforest and adopted 3 decisions: "Projects, Pre-projects and Activities", "International Tropical Timber Organization Biennial Work Programme for the year 2010 - 2011", and "Entry into Force of the International Tropical Timber Agreement, 2006".
