Progress of Reliability Evaluation and Tests

Based on EXTEND 2010 and EXTEND 2016, Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is implementing reliability evaluation of literatures and two-tiered framework for testing and assessment (see "Further Actions on Endocrine Disrupting Effects of Chemical Substances ― EXTEND2016 ―" (Tentative Translation) (June 2016)[PDF 1,024KB] for further details).

  • "Reliability evaluation": Reliability of existing knowledge and information on the concerned chemicals are evaluated.
  • "Tier 1": Prioritization of "Chemicals that can be subjected to tests for endocrine disrupting effects" identified through the reliability evaluation, and implementation of Tier 1 testing.
  • "Tier 2": Implementation of Tier 2 testing. "Chemicals with actions relevant to endocrine disruption" judged through Tier 1 assessment are to be candidates.
