Cooperation through International Organizations

The Ministry of the Environment contributes actively to environmental policy dialogues with international organizations and frameworks in the Asia-Pacific region such as ESCAP [New window opens], UNEP [New window opens], Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) [New window opens], and United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) [New window opens].

Also, the Ministry supports specific cooperation efforts by such international organizations and frameworks.For instance, the Ministry supports the establishment and management of UNEP's International Environment Technology Center (IETC) [New window opens] which has been set up in Japan for the transfer of Environmentally Sound Technologies (ESTs) to developing countries.
