The ETV Logo shall not be used for any purposes other than the followings.

• 1) To introduce ETV to the public, the Logo may be used by anyone without specific permission by MOE. The Logo may be used in public documents such as a newsletter, a magazine, an academic report, or on a Web site.
• 2) To introduce or advertise the verified technologies, developers/vendors with technologies may use the Logo only after the completed verification report/statement for the technologies has been approved by MOE the Verification Management Organizations or the Verfication Organizations. In addition, they must use the Logo in accordance with the provisions in paragraph 3 (HOW TO INDICATE). Under no circumstance, shall the Logo be used in a manner that would imply endorsement, approval, certification, guarantee, or warrantee by MOE or any affiliated organizations of ETV.
• 3) To show that institutions are Verification Management Organizations or Verification Organizations for ETV, they are free to use the Logo. When their status as such organizations is expired, they shall not use the Logo for this purpose.

3-1. General Requirement

• 1) Under no circumstances, shall the ETV Logo be used in a manner that would imply endorsement, approval, certification, guarantee, or warrantee of the company, its products, its technologies, or its services by MOE, Verification Management Organizations, Verification Organizations, and other affiliated institutions of ETV.
• 2) The Logo shall not be used as a part of names for any products, services, and technologies.

3-2. Requirement for Publication and Advertisement of Specific Technology The developers/vendors of verified technology must also comply with the following requirements when using the Logo for publication or advertising of their verified technology.

• 1) The verification number given by MOE must be placed adjacent to the Logo.
• 2) In order to clearly distinguish the verified technology/product from others, the Logo must be placed by the name of the verification technology/product. If only one model among a line of products is verified, the Logo must be placed or accompany appropriate statement in order to make clear which model is verified. The use of the Logo is prohibited for the rest of products even in the same series unless their technology or the performance is identical with the verified one. • 3) The Logo shall not be used alone for a publication or an advertisement of their verified technology. The Logo shall always accompany the disclaimer statement such as follows: “Information on the performance characteristics of this technology can be found as a copy of the ETV verification report at the ETV web site at http://www.env.go.jp/policy/etv/. The use of the ETV Name or Logo does not imply warrantee, certification, or approval of this technology/product, or guarantees as to product performance.” This disclaimer statement must be large and clear enough to be read easily.

• 1) A color scheme for the Logo is indicated in appendix 1[PDF]. Other colors shall not be used for the Logo.
• 2) The Logo should be displayed as a distinguishable independent mark.
• 3) The Logo must not be cut apart, separated, or altered in any way other than resized.
• 4) In a case of the use of the Logo on the Web, the Logo should be hot-linked to the ETV homepage at http://www.env.go.jp/policy/etv/.
