The Ministry of the Environment compiled a report on the enforcement status of the Law Concerning Special Measures against Dioxins for FY 2004 (from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005) based on reports submitted by 95 prefectures and ordinance-designated cities.
1. Number of specified facilities (as of March 31, 2005)* - Facilities subject to air standards: 12,811 facilities (Number of business entities: 9,559) - Facilities subject to effluent standards: 3,896 facilities (Number of business entities: 1,926) - * It includes facilities covered under the Mine Safety Law and other laws.
2. State of implementation of regulations (from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005) - On-site inspections: Facilities subject to air standards 8,016 cases
Business entities subject to effluent standards 1,370 cases- Administrative guidance: Facilities subject to air standards 5,850 cases
Business entities subject to effluent standards 300 cases- Improvement orders: Facilities subject to air standards 46 cases
Business entities subject to effluent standards 4 cases3. Reporting of the results of voluntary measurements taken by those entities installing facilities subject to reporting (from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005) - Number of reporting: Facilities subject to air standards 9,297 cases
