Reduce, Reuse and Recycle ("3R") Initiative was agreed at the G8 Summit held in Sea Island, Georgia, USA from June 8 to 10, 2004. This Initiative, aiming to establish a sound material-cycle society globally through promoting reduction of waste generation, reuse and recycle of resources and products, was advocated by Prime Minister Koizumi. It will be formally launched at a ministerial meeting which will be held in Japan in the spring of 2005, with ministers in charge of 3Rs to participate in.
