Statement

Statement by YAMAGUCHI Tsuyoshi, Minister of the Environment, Japan, on Participation in COP26 (November 10, 2021)

I am departing Japan tonight to participate, from tomorrow, November 11th, in the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Glasgow, UK.

In Glasgow, I will do my utmost to engage in inter-ministerial negotiations, firmly advocating Japan's views on improving ambitious global efforts to reduce emissions and to conclude negotiations on the Paris Rulebook, especially on market mechanisms.

In the limited remaining time, I will also disseminate information on Japan's domestic efforts and its support for the transition to global decarbonization.
